Spider veins are tiny, visible vessels that are close to
the surface of the skin. They are frequently found on
the legs and the face.
They are usually red or blue in color. They can be
treated by injecting a liquid into the vein (sclerotherapy) or applying a
laser to the skin directly over the vein (surface laser sclerotherapy).
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a medication into the
vein that makes it fade from view. We use the FDA approved
Sodium Tetradecyl Sulfate Injection for this purpose, which is
called Sotradecol®. Sclerotherapy is only used for
veins on the legs.
For cosmetic purposes, surface laser sclerotherapy treats
your small, unsightly spider veins with minimal staining. Surface
laser sclerotherapy can be used on the legs and the face. We are the
only vein treatment specialists in Santa Barbara and the Imperial Valley
that offers this technology (please watch video for demonstration).
